Hi, my name is Malte Ostendorff. I’m an information science researcher and enthusiast of open data and civic tech.

Currently, I’m employed at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). In particular, I work on the Qurator AI project, which covers various topics from the field of natural language processing.

I’m also a Ph.D. student at University of Wuppertal in the Data & Knowledge Engineering Group.
For my doctoral thesis, I focus on information retrieval, document similarity, and recommender systems.

Besides my research, I’m the co-founder of Open Justice e.V. - an association that aims the improve access to justice for the general public. With Open Legal Data we fight for more transparency in the legal system by publishing legal documents like court decisions as open data.
